The Edgerton Village Council held their September meeting on the 6th at 5:30 p.m., holding roll call after the pledge of allegiance and a prayer led by Mayor Day.

Present were Councilors Pam Wampler, Leslie VanAusdale, Jason Gruver, Chuck Wallace, Sharon Blinzler and Lance Bowsher.

Also present was Law Director Chris Walker, Mayor Robert Day, Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles, Fiscal Officer Denise Knetch, and Administrative Assistant Amanda Knetch.

First approved were the minutes of the August 15, 2023 meeting as presented. Dawn Fitzcharles reported that two projects are currently working with O-DOT for funding, with all future plans having to be approved by the Ohio EPA, with excavation expected to begin around the end of October.

The H2Ohio grant funding has been received, and Amanda Knetch was congratulated on obtaining a grant for the village to put a flashing stop sign near the school.

Each village vehicle will be equipped with two narcan, and a narcan training event will take place on September 20 at 2 p.m.

Denise Knetch shared with the council the credit card report and August financials, sharing that the village is officially operating in the fiscal month of September. The budget for next year is being worked on extensively currently.

Council then accepted a resolution to accept K-9 Officer Ruin to the Edgerton Police Department to work with Chief Ken Jacob, a resolution to hire Carter Herman and Dakota Burke, two Edgerton High School students, as interns, approved the hire of Officer Kyle Esckilsen, and accepted the resignation of Elias Carter, who has gone to work for the Montpelier Street Department.

After Council approved posting the position that Carter will leave vacant on the 8th as open, a motion was approved to pay an invoice from August Mack for the Edgerton Brownfield Remediation Project.

A motion was then approved to list an open position for Law Director, as it was shared that Law Director Chris Walker will not be renewing his contract with the village in December.

Ordinance No. 1125 was approved before the bills as presented were as well.

This ordinance transferred $20,000 into the Tree Commission to help with storm remediation funds and tree planting.

The Edgerton Village Council then adjourned at 6:09 p.m., set to meet next on September 20, 2023 at 5:30 p.m.
