The Edon School Board met for its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 23, at 5:30 p.m. All Board members were present, including President Cody Best, Vice President Jamie Schaffter, Patty Eicher, Ashley Reed, and David Wehrle.
Before the meeting kicked off, a special representative from the Ohio School Boards Association Northwest Region, Mr. Busdeker, visited the board. He awarded President Best a certificate for Edon Schools and their outstanding dedication to education.
A motion was made to approve the minutes from the previous May 12 meeting, the financial reports, and the amended certificate request from the County Auditor.
The FY25 412 Final Certificate was additionally approved, along with the negotiated agreement for FY26-FY28.
Estimated revenue and permanent appropriations for fiscal year 2026 were set by the board. This included multiple capital projects, grant applications, and food service agreements. Several donations were also accepted, such as multiple donations for the Edon FFA and the graduated class of 2025.
Agreements were made in preparation for the upcoming school year. A Technical Service Agreement with the Northern Buckeye Education Council, a supplemental NBEC Nova agreement, and the necessary NWOCA Membership fees.
Permission to continue to participate in all federal programs, such as Federal Lunch and Breakfast Programs, was granted. Free and reduced lunches and breakfasts will be continually offered to the commodity program. The set prices are as follows:
– Regular Breakfast, $1.90
– Adult Breakfast, $2.40
– Grades K-3 Lunch, $2.65
– Grades 4-6 Lunch, $2.90
– Grades 7-12 Lunch, $3.15
– Adult Lunch, $4.10
The board approved an agreement with the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention Training and Rehabilitation Center, as well as for the Wood County Juvenile Detention/Juvenile Residential Center for 2026.
The treasurer gave a detailed report comparing the May 2025 and May 2024 SM2 reports. Revenues continue to increase, up by $704,855, while expenses also rise, by around $436,475.
Total revenues for the previous school year remain over expenditures. Applied grants for the next school year have not been released at this time.
Lapham, Middle and High School Principal, announced that the graduation ceremony went very well, with special thanks to all who made the day possible.
The last day of school was filled with fun activities for the students, and any 9th grader who earned good grades was rewarded with a pizza luncheon.
Superintendent Stevens reported his ongoing process with the personnel updates. Calendar and graduation updates for the 2026 school year are already underway.
With no further business, the Edon School Board meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
