After taking two years off with COVID the Edon Cinderella Project is re-opening this year. This year the event will take place on Saturday April 2nd from 10 am- 2pm at Edon Northwest Schools.
The school will have its collection of dresses on display in the Band Room, the school asks everyone to enter from the front.
The Edon Cinderella Project was started in 2005 by Robin Spangler and Pam Rupp. Helping girls afford a beautiful prom dress was Spangler’s dream. Spangler passed away in 2006, leaving Rupp to carry on the legacy.
Rupp continued on leading the project every year since and has added helpers along the way. People donate dresses from all area schools. Williams County and Fayette schools are collection points for the dresses.
The collection of dresses has increased to around four hundred dresses as well as some handbags and shoes. Each dress is sold for ten dollars, no matter what style or brand it is, making them all affordable.
Spangler and Rupp wanted every girl to have a beautiful dress, no matter the cost. The proceeds from the dress sales are then taken to the Cancer Assistance of Williams county.
This association has special meaning to all the leaders of the Cinderella Project.
With the re-opening this year they’ve added a special twist. Each flier has a QR Code that the girls can use to connect to a Facebook page. This allows the public to view some of the dresses for the event.
