Edon FFA Competes In District 1 Invitational Career Development

Edon FFA Poultry Team #2: Clayton Fitch, Aidan Muehlfeld, Shane Zulch, Claire Radabaugh, Tatum Schaffter.

Members of the Edon FFA Chapter competed in Career Development Events (CDE’s) at the District 1 Invitational held March 18, 2016 at Fulton County Fairgrounds. Eighteen students participated in the poultry, wildlife and general livestock judging events.

In the poultry contest, students talked about production, processing, management and marketing of poultry products. Members of this team were Jordan Winebernner, Paige Schaffter, Jared Cook, Olivia Radabaugh, Claire Radabaugh, Tatum Schaffter, Aidan Muehlfeld, Clayton Fitch and Shane Zulch. The team placed 11th at the contest.

The wildlife contest promotes interest in the areas of fish, wildlife and natural resources management. Through this event, students identified species of fish, vegetative plants and wild animals native to Ohio. The team placed 18th at the contest; members were Lucas Joice, Justin Shaw, Wendy Braun, Kelby Sapp, Dylan Mason and Kase Hug.

The general livestock contest required students to evaluate classes of beef cattle, sheep, goats and hogs along with answering questions about the animal’s body conformation. Students in this contest were Colten Lyman, Carley Muehlfeld, Levi Brandt and Evan Fisk; the team placed 25th at the contest.

The teams are now preparing for the state contest slated for April 2 at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus.
