The Edon Northwest Local School District Board of Education met on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. with members Cody Best, Ashley Reed, David Wehrle, Patty Eicher, and Jamie Schaffter.
Also in attendance were Anthony Stevens, Jennifer Ripke, Rebecca Harvey, Deborah S. Nester, and Kayla Lapham.
First approved were the minutes from the September 18, 2023 meeting, the September financial reports, and the approval of a request for an amended certificate from the county auditor.
Next, the board approved the substitute teacher list from the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center as presented before accepting donations from the Edon Chamber of Commerce, GMW, Miller’s New Market, Edon Athletic Boosters, Tanya Whitney, and Paul Gutmann.
Mr. Nester shared that revenues are up $139,023, with expenses rising to $84,569.
Mrs. Lapham shared that LJ Walker and Larry Long are this month’s staff Shout Outs, and that October 20, 2023 will see a 4E’s presentation with Spangler Candy Co. and Air-Way.
The Edon chapter of the NHS saw nine new members inducted on October 9, and October 26 is a professional development day, with parent teacher conferences happening soon and a Veterans Day assembly on November 10.
Mrs. Ripke shared that TGRG requirements for KK-3rd grade students have been met, with all fall state testing results expected to be received by December.
There is a lot going on with the fall feast, 100 days smarter, spring feast, grandparents’ day, PRIDE expectations, tutoring, picture day and fire department visit happening.
October 24 be the quiz bowl, and October 26 will see parent / teacher conferences. October 27 will see Fall Parties, with parent / teacher conferences happening again on November 2.
Superintendent Stevens shared information on the Vestibule Project and NBHP Insurance rates for calendar year 2024, with 557 students reported to be enrolled.
A motion was then made approving Bobbie Jo Repp as Fiscal Assistant, EMIS Coordinator, and Administrative Secretary for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year.
Motions were made approving the contracts of Amanda Dickmann, Audra Nester, Aaron Wolfe, and Rebecca Harvey as JV Basketball Coach and Head Softball Coach, as well as the resignations of Pam Rupp, Paula Fry, and Rebecca Harvey as Jr. High Basketball Coach.
The second reading of the Board Policies from Vol. 41 Update 1 – August 2022 was given before the Edon Northwest Local School District Board of Education voted to adjourn at 5:58 p.m.
