Edon Students Perform In Williams County Honors Band And Choir Concert

WILLIAMS COUNTY HONORS CHOIR PARTICIPANTS … Under the direction of Dr. Grant William Cook III, talented high school vocalists preformed during the 2013 Williams County Honors Band and Choir Concert held at Montpelier High School.  Selected to represent Edon High School were:  Front Row (L-R) ~ Karli Munger, Crista Wortkoetter, Alexia Ewers and Jacob Prince.  Row two ~ Mikaela Myers and Cassidy Wilson.  Row three ~ Shane Bergdall, Kyle Gearhart and Abby Hill.  Back row ~ Landon Bloir, Jordan Matthews, Ben Brown, Colten Lyman and Taylor Schwartz.  Not pictured ~ Levi Cvikel and Kenny Ordway.

Talented high school musicians across the area took part in the 2013 Williams County Honors Band and Choir Concert held last month at Montpelier High School. Guest directors for the afternoon performances were Dr. Grant William Cook II, Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at The University of Mount Union and Mr. Galen S. Karriker, Assistant Director of Bands and Associate Professor Music at The University of Akron.

WILLIAMS COUNTY HONORS BAND PARTICIPANTS … The annual Williams County Honors Band and Choir Concert held Sunday, February 24, 2013 featured talented students from Edon, Bryan, Edgerton, Hilltop, Montpelier, North Central and Stryker schools.  Under the direction of Dr. Galen S. Karriker, musicians performed several selections to the audience’s delight.  Selected to represent Edon High School were:  Front ~ Taylor Schuller.  Second Row ~ Mariah Hantz and Chelsey Handy.  Third Row ~ Tyler Frantom, Abby Hill and Shane Carter.  Back Row ~ Chandler Siebenaler and Mike Peeples.  Not pictured ~ Derek Jackson and Corey Bailey.

HIGH SCHOOL HONORS CHOIR … Cheyenne Kimball, a senior at Edon High School, participated in the Ohio Music Education Association’s District 1 Honors Festival held Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Stranahan Theatre in Toledo.  Afternoon and evening concerts that day featured performances by the District’s middle school and high school Honors Orchestra, Honors Choir and Honors Band ensembles.  Cheyenne joined students from schools throughout Northwest Ohio (Williams, Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas and Wood counties) for this annual event.  Guest clinical this year was Dr. Mary K. Schneider, Director of Bands at Eastern Michigan University.  Cheyenne is a member of the Edon High School Concert Band directed by Mrs. Stephanie Bonitz.

MIDDLE SCHOOL HONORS BAND AND CHOIR … Hannah Kaylor (center), an eighth grader at Edon Northwest Local Schools, participated in the Ohio Music Education Association’s District 1 Honors Festival held Sunday afternoon, January 20, 2013 at the Stranahan Theatre in Toledo.  After submitting her saxophone audition tape, Hannah was selected to join middle school band students from schools throughout Northwest Ohio for this annual event.  Featured guest clinician for the Honors Band was Mr. Jeffrey D. Shellhammer, lecturer in the School of Music at The Ohio State University.  Hannah is a member of the Edon Junior High Band directed by Mrs. Stephanie Bonitz.  Also participating in the Honors Festival were eighth graders Evan Fisk and Alyson Bergdall.  The tenor and soprano vocalists, selected through audition tapes as well, were part of the Middle School Honors Choir directed by guest clinician Dr. Ann Usher, Associate Professor of Music at the University of Akron.  They are members of the Edon Junior High Choir under the direction of Mrs. Cathy Frastaci.
