Edon Village Council Elects Lee Lawrence As 2021 President

During the January 18, 2021 Organizational meeting of the Edon Village Council, Lee Lawrence was elected to be President and the committees all remain the same. The Meeting Time stays as the third Monday each month at 7 pm, by teleconference until further notice.

As part of the regular meeting, Council voted to approve the minutes for the December meeting, the presentation of financial report and bills as well as an ordinance which will give the village “first dibs” on some property when or if it comes up for sale.

Ordinance 01-21 “An ordinance authorizing and directing the Village Administrator to execute an option and purchase agreement for real estate, to perform all necessary acts to effectuate the option and purchase agreement for real estate and declaring an emergency.”

Mayor Duane Thiel shared some thoughts about 2020 being a good year despite the pandemic. Police Chief Tom Szymczak reported that he has not heard back from the Sheriff yet concerning the possibility of contracting.


During Committee Reports, a Finance Committee meeting was scheduled for January 26 at 6 pm and the Cemetery Committee planned to meet in February to discuss the mowing contract for 2021.

Village Administrator Chad Ordway reported to council that the bids were opened for the Railroad Street Waterline Project at the Commissioners’ meeting and after the engineer reviews and makes a recommendation it will probably be awarded before the next Council meeting.

He also gave council a printed Water and Waste Water report with usage totals for the year and said that he hopes the next big project is a Waste Water Treatment upgrade.


In Old Business – The Nuisance form is ready for use if residents have a complaint and can be acquired at the office.

Council went into Executive Session to discuss property acquisition, with no action taken.
