(A Beloved Son, Brother, & Father Remembered)
Edwin Wayne Weitzel, 51, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Defiance, Ohio, on Feb. 23, 2026. Ed was born Sept. 27, 1974, to Michael E. Weitzel and Elva Jo (Gilcher) Treace.
Surviving are his son, Mike Weitzel of Defiance; sisters, Teresa (Weitzel) Bobby Jones, Alice Bowers, and Tori Hyser; brothers, Mike (Pete) Weitzel and Chuck Treace; aunts, Nita Jo Laforet-Lachke, Connie Stantz, and Linda Gray, all of Montpelier; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike Weitzel and Elva Jo Treace; stepfather, Hayworth Treace Sr.; sister, Jennifer Bartlett; brother-in-law, Rodney Hyser; and paternal grandparents, Don and Joann Gilcher and Deloine and Eileene Taylor.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date for friends and family.
