Eight Individuals Indicted By Defiance County Grand Jury

Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney, Morris J. Murray, has released the following information regarding recent indictments returned by a Defiance County Grand Jury on October 15, 2024:

Among those indicted was 40-year-old Ryan Gibbs, of Defiance, who was charged with Aggravated Burglary, Felonious Assault and Having Weapons While Under Disability.

-RYAN E. GIBBS, age 40, 62 Charnell Dr., Defiance, was indicted for One Count of Aggravated Burglary, a Felony of the First Degree, One Count of Felonious Assault, a Felony of the Second Degree, and One Count of Having Weapons While Under Disability, a Felony of the Third Degree.

Authorities allege that on October 9, 2024, Gibbs forced entry into a structure on Indian Bridge Lane, in Defiance, with purpose to commit a criminal offense. Authorities further allege that, while inside the structure, Gibbs then caused or attempted to cause physical harm to another by means of a deadly weapon, and he is prohibited from possessing such a weapon due to a prior conviction for a felony offense of violence.

Other Indictments included:

-FAUNA R. PLOTTS, age 34, 924 Warren St., Defiance, was indicted for Two Counts of Assault, each a Felony of the Fourth Degree. Authorities allege that on July 17, 2024, Plotts caused or attempted to cause physical harm to a law enforcement officer and an EMT who responded to a complaint on S. Clinton St., in Defiance.

-DUSTYN L. CANTRELL, age 38, 726 ½ S. Clinton St., Defiance, was indicted for One Count of Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a Felony of the Fifth Degree. Authorities allege that on September 30, 2024, during his arrest on an active warrant, on Corwin St., in Defiance, Cantrell was found in possession of Methamphetamine, a Schedule II drug.

-COREY A. RODRIGUEZ, age 47, 7713 Rd. 131, Paulding, was indicted for One Count of Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a Felony of the Fifth Degree. Authorities allege that on June 17, 2024, at a business on N. Clinton St., in Defiance, Rodriguez was found in possession of Methamphetamine, a Schedule II drug.

-KRISTOPHER C. PATRICK, age 22, 1812 S. Cowen St., Garrett, Indiana, was indicted for One Count of Strangulation, a Felony of the Fourth Degree, and Two Counts of Domestic Violence, each a Misdemeanor of the First Degree.

Authorities allege that on October 8, 2024, at a residence on Oak Park Dr., in Hicksville, Patrick caused or created a substantial risk of physical harm to a family or household member by means of strangulation or suffocation. Authorities further allege that, during the aforementioned incident, Patrick also caused or attempted to cause physical harm to two family or household members.

-JAMES A. MANSFIELD, age 24, 1541 Terrawenda Dr., Defiance, was indicted for One Count of Attempted Rape, a Felony of the Second Degree, One Count of Strangulation, a Felony of the Third Degree, and One Count of Strangulation, a Felony of the Fourth Degree.

Authorities allege that on October 3, 2024, at a residence on E. Second St., in Defiance, Mansfield attempted to engage in sexual conduct with another, who he compelled to submit by force or threat of force.

Authorities further allege that, during the aforementioned incident, Mansfield also created a substantial risk of serious physical harm to by means of strangulation or suffocation, and he also caused or created a substantial risk of physical harm to a person with whom he was in a dating relationship, by means of strangulation or suffocation.

-CHRISTOPHER J. FELLERS, age 39, 4337 County Road 162, Antwerp, was indicted for One Count of Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, a Drug of Abuse or a Combination of Them, a Felony of the Fourth Degree. Authorities allege that on October 6, 2024, on Fifth St., in Defiance, Fellers operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and he has five prior OVI convictions within the past twenty years.

-KANDACE L. PORTHOUSE, age 29, 109 Seneca St., Defiance, was indicted for One Count of Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a Felony of the Fifth Degree. Authorities allege that on December 23, 2023, during a traffic stop on Second St., in Defiance, Porthouse was found in possession of Methamphetamine, a Schedule II drug.

Arraignments are scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 9 a.m
