Elizabeth “Betty” Blanchard (1929 – 2023)

 (Former Activities Director At Bryan Nursing Center)

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Blanchard, age 94, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 7:40 P.M. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Otterbein Pemberville Senior Life Community, in Pemberville, Ohio, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Blanchard was a graduate of Ayersville High School and had worked as a secretary for Slocum Elementary School in Defiance for a number of years.

She later became activities director at Bryan Nursing Care Center.  She was a member of New Hope Community Church.

Elizabeth was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and a friend to all who knew her.  She loved to cook and was an excellent artist and along with her husband taught painting lessons for many years.


She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in many choirs and played electric bass guitar in their band, “The Mistys.”

Elizabeth Ann Blanchard was born on September 11, 1929, in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of Harry D. and Eva L. (Hoffman) Rohn. She married Marvin L. Blanchard on June 18, 1950, in Defiance and he survives.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Steve (Cathy) Blanchard, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jeff (Sherry) Blanchard, of Fremont, Ohio, and Mark (Rebecca) Blanchard, of Margate, Florida; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Brian) Cupples, Julie (Jeremy) Vaughan, Rob (Jordan) Blanchard, Rachel (Bryan) Carpenter, Scott (Julia) Blanchard, Nikki (Matthew) Lindsay, and David Blanchard; and eleven great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Laverne Hoellrich and Sarabelle Lindemuth.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will follow at 12:00 noon in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor David Nicholls officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance.

Memorials are requested to New Hope Community Church, Outreach of Bryan Area, Inc. Or the Alzheimer’s Foundation and Related Disorders.
