Emil Mseis (1939 – 2018)

Emil K. Mseis, 78 years, of Bryan, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 surrounded by his family at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan, after a brief illness.  Emil was born one of six children on March 31, 1939 in Ramallah, Israel, the son of the late Khalil and Martha (Haddad) Mseis.  Due to the Arab-Israeli Conflict, the family migrated to the West Bank of the Hashimite Kingdom of Jordan.  In the Mid 1950’s, the children scattered to different parts of the world seeking better educational opportunities.  Emil came to the United States to study Aeronautical Engineering.  He received his Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Miami.  He married Linda J. Clock on December 21, 1958 in Miami, Florida, and she survives.  Emil and Linda moved to Bryan in 1965 where he started employment at the ARO Corporation where he worked for five years in Quality Control and Manufacturing Engineering.  He resigned in 1970 to join the family business -–Lester’s Diner, where he became a Manager and then a Business Partner, until his retirement in 2011.  He also was the owner of New World Travel from 1997 until 2000.  Emil was active in the community, serving as the President of the Bryan Retail Merchants, and was actively involved with the Bryan Area Chamber of Commerce.  He was a charter member of the Bryan Jaycees and was a founder of the International Friendship Club.  He was a member of the Bryan Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow.  He was affiliated with the Bryan Alliance Church.  Emil was a man of deep faith and that radiated to those he came into contact with.

Surviving is his wife, Linda of Bryan; four children, Nanci (David) Frazer of Bryan, Charles (Melissa) Mseis of Bryan, Melinda (Steven) Michael of Bryan and Flora Mseis of Chicago, Illinois; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; four siblings, Ibraheim (Ellen) Mseis and families of Blacktown, Australia, Renee Marouf and families of Ramallah, Israel, Nabil (Izar) Mseis and families of Porto Alegra, Brazil and Nabila (Saba) Isa and children, Muna, Maher, Nabil and Liela of Barrington, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Suad Marouf.

Visitation for Emil K. Mseis will be held Friday, February 2, 2018 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Lynn Street Chapel, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.  Funeral services for Emil will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 in the First Presbyterian Church, 506 Oxford Drive, Bryan with Pastor Ryan Carter officiating.  Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.  There will be visitation one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
