Ethel I. Leininger, age 80, of Swanton passed away peacefully Monday morning February 8, 2016 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. She was born in Holgate, OH on June 8, 1935 to the late Harvey and Vera (Walter) Fruth. On June 27, 1954 she married Charles Leininger in Delta and he preceded her in death in 1994.
Ethel was known for her baking skills, specializing in cake decorating. She enjoyed gardening and making flower arrangements. She was an active member and volunteer at Brailey Union Church in Swanton, working in the kitchen and preparing luncheons.
She enjoyed spending time with friends and family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ethel is survived by her five children, Susan (Jeff) Bischoff, Barbara Doughty, Linda Leininger, Charles (Beth) Leininger and Mary Ann (Kyle) Doyle; brother, Lee (Bea) Fruth; three grandchildren, Tammy Leininger, Greg (Tiffany) Leininger and Josh Doughty and four great-grandchildren, Elijah and Madison Doughty, and Bailey and Autumn Leininger.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Walter Fruth.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta. A funeral service celebrating Ethel’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 11, 2016; at the funeral home. Pastor Denzil Mauk will be officiating. Interment will take place at Shiloh cemetery following the service.
