EVERGREEN BOARD OF EDUCATION: Board Sets Breakfast & Lunch Prices For Upcoming School Year

The Evergreen Board of Education held their meeting on Monday, June 27th at 6:00 p.m. The board first moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting held on May 16th and the special meeting held on June 7th.

The May 2022 financial reports were also approved before moving on to approve the following fund-to-fund transfers. $538.68 from the Tournament Fund to the Athletic Department and $3,290.79 from the Class of 2022 to the Class of 2023.

The amended resources for fiscal year ending June 30th were approved next along with the following agenda items.

Numerous appropriation modifications for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 2022, with authorization given to the Treasurer to carry over any outstanding encumbrances as of June 30th, 2022.

Temporary appropriations for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 2023, at 75% of FY22 actual expenditures.

Numerous state and or federal grants were then approved along with donations made to the school. The petty cash and change funds for the 2022-2023 school year was also approved before the board moved to discuss and approve numerous personnel items.

A Resolution was then adopted to propose the renewal of an annual tax levy on school district income. The levy is a 0.25% school district income tax that would take effect on January 1st, 2023 and run for 5 years.


The following additional agenda items were then approved. A contract with the Fulton County Health Department to provide school nurse services for the school at an annual cost of $17,785.

A salary increase for all district employees by 3% in 2022-2023, a 2.5% increase in 2023-2024, and a 2% increase in 2024-2025. School breakfast and lunch prices at the following amounts.

EES Breakfast at $2.25 per student. EMS and EHA Breakfast at $2.45 per student. EES, EMS, and EHS breakfast for adults at $2.70 per adult. EES lunch at $3.00 per student. EMS and EHS lunch at $3.35 per student. EES, EMS and EHS lunch at $4.60 per adult.

An agreement was then accepted with the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention Center for education purposes for students from the district in detention.


A cost of $77.00 per day will be assessed for each day of instruction. The current student handbook and EHS curriculum guide was approved next along the student fee schedules for the 2022-2023 school year.

Authorization was then given to the treasurer to pay the 2022-2023 Northwest Ohio Computer Association membership and EMIS fees totaling $42,150.83.

The next several agenda items were then approved as follows. A one-year contract with Taher Inc., to provide food service management services to the school.

A three-year contract with 3-Dimensional Physical Therapy to provide physical therapy services for students for the 2022-2025 school years.

Approved the Evergreen Local Board of Education to enter a Single Case Agreement and funding authorization with Youth Villages, Inc. for the sole purpose of providing educational services to an Evergreen student.

Juneteenth was then approved as a paid holiday for 11- and 12-month non-teaching employees. A bid was accepted from Gerkin Paving, Inc. for the repaving of portions of the campus’s parking lots. The total cost of the project is $173,500.00.

Jessica Meyer and Kevin Smith were then granted High School Diplomas as part of the schools 22+ Adult High School Diploma program.

An agreement was then made with the Northwest Ohio Virtual Academy, or NOVA, for licensing and or online learning instruction for the administration of course materials at an estimated cost of $4,100.00 for the 2022-2023 school year.

Administrators then gave updates regarding several ongoing items including the possible drug policy change. It was stated that this policy is still in review. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
