Evergreen Soccer Player Paige Radel Recognized For Ohio All-State

President Nora Kiefer called the February 16, 2021 Evergreen School Board meeting to order, mentioning the removal of one item under personnel, before the board approved the amended agenda for the evening.

The Board also approved the minutes for the January meetings and with no comments from Board members, Mr. Eric Smola, the school Superintendent gave his report.

A Senatorial Citation was received by Paige Radel for her athletic achievements, from Senator Theresa Gavarone. Radel was named to the Ohio All-State 2nd team for the 2020 season. She is the first soccer player in Evergreen history to receive Ohio All-State.


Mr. Carol gave the financial report, with balance for month of January. The board voted to approve the January 2021 Financial reports including the Cash reconcilliation, Cash summary and Disbursement summary. They accepted a $100 anonymous donation to the Student Assistance Fund.

The income tax payment was a little low, at 88% of what they got they last year. Final payment will be in April for this year. The ESSER grant funds have been spent and a new amount will be coming in soon.

Recognition was given to the following companies for donating their time/resources in order to complete the outdoor batting cage concrete decks for the baseball and softball programs: Keller Builders (Scott Keller), Mika Construction, Inc. (Mitch Mika), Pahl Ready Mix Concrete, Inc., M&R Ready Mix, Inc. and Carter Lumber (Dave Pinkelman).


Approval was given for:

•Modifications to IDEA by $2681.99 and ESCE by $.89 (Grant funds)
•Rescinding and/or offering supplemental contracts for the 20-21 school year and approved volunteers for Mollie Youtzy – Rescinded as MS Track Coach; Tori Wright Middle School Track Coach; Haley Send and Shane Chamberlin as Assistant Softball Coach Volunteers; Keven Knight as Assistant Bowling Coach Volunteer; and Kelsey Ford as Assistant Volleyball Coach Volunteer

•Renee Mack as the Head Cook of the MS/HS kitchen effective January 21, 2021

•Request for FMLA leave for Abby Pennington tentatively beginning on March 22, 2021 and ending on May 28, 2021


•Overnight trip for the Evergreen Wrestling Team to participate in the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament at Marion Harding High School on March 13-14 should any wrestlers qualify for the state tournament. Coaches Dalton Nicely, Chad Richardson, and Adam Gleckler will be trip supervisors.

•Authorization of agreement to enter into a contract with SimplexGrinnell for fire pump replacement at a cost of $41,300.

Mr. Smola announced that Evergreen staff would be able to get COVID vaccines at the Fulton County Fairgrounds on Saturday, February 27 between 12 noon and 2 p.m.

He thanked Health Commissioner Kim Cupp and the Health Department, for all they did to make this possible. Smola said that 70% of the staff are signed up for vaccines.

Reports were heard from the school principals before the meeting adjourned. The next Regular Board Meeting will be held on March 22, 2021 at 6 p.m. in the Loren Pennington Learning Center.
