cooperArchbold, OH – Take time to be inspired this summer during the annual Explore the Crafts Event at Sauder Village. On Saturday, July 16 guests will be encouraged to try pottery, drawing, weaving, broom making, tinsmithing, printing and more while exploring the crafts at Ohio’s largest living-history destination!

“Our Explore the Crafts event is a day filled with inspiration and creativity,” shared Kim Krieger, PR/Media Relations. “This popular day offers guests a greater appreciation of the talented craftsmen that work each day at Sauder Village.”

During this fun-filled event, craftsmen will share their talents while allowing guests to explore their own creativity. Visitors may want to try pottery, making mini decorative brooms, wooden beaded necklaces and felt balls. Some of the other hands-on activities planned for this event include assembling a wooden bucket, making a stave for a bucket (16 and older), spinning with a drop spindle, weaving, making a tin icicle ornament and helping to make a basket. Guests can participate in drawing activities, help make a braided rug, make flower crayon rubbings and more!

For an additional fee, a hands-on Glass Blowing Experience is also available on this special day. This memorable experience will give guests an opportunity to work with internationally acclaimed glass artist Mark Matthews to create an ornament, pumpkin or flower. Get an up-close look at glass blowing as you select the colors for your piece and help Mark turn the molten glass into your own artwork! Each session lasts about 60 minutes and the cost is $45. Guests can pre-register online for this special opportunity (for ages 10 and older) or call 800.590.9755. Additional Glass Blowing Experiences will be offered on July 17, September 17 & 18 and October 29 & 30.

Other upcoming events at Sauder Village include a Vintage Baseball Tournament on July 23 and the Doll & Teddy Bear Show and Sale/Antique Bicycle Event on August 6 and 7. The Rug Hooking Event is August 17-20 and the annual Barbershop Sing will be held on August 27. A Sauder Village Membership is a great way to enjoy the many events planned at Sauder Village. Single, Couple, Family and Grandparent Memberships may be purchased online athttp://www.saudervillage.org

Historic Sauder Village is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and each Sunday afternoon from noon-4:00 p.m. The Historic Village is closed on Mondays, except holidays.
