Fayette Boys Gets Easy Win In District Semifinal

NAPOLEON -The Fayette Eagles (23-1) ran away from a cold shooting Edgerton Bulldogs (16-8) team for a 42-26 Division IV District semifinal.

The Bulldogs’ offense sputtered through three quarters of the game before they finally began to gel in the final eight minutes. It was too little too late at the Eagles moved on to prepare for Ayersville in the District title game set for Friday, March 4 back at the “Grand Cannon”.

The score stood at 8-5 as the Eagles went on their assault. From the 2:12 mark of the first quarter, through 5:54 remaining in the third quarter, Fayette went on a 17-0 run to take a lopsided 29-5 lead before Alex Michael scored on the backend of two foul shots to make the score 29-6.

Fayette’s Joel Smith ended the first half the same way he started the game draining three point shots to bring the Fayette faithful to their feet.

Over the last eight minutes the Bulldogs came to life as they won the last quarter 17-11.

10 of those points were made close to the hoop by Michael who led the Bulldogs with 14 points for the contest.

The first half was Fayette’s Jerad Seiler’s turn to dominate the inside game as he connected for 11 of his game high 18 points.
