A recent court case in Williams County Common Pleas Court has led to the sentencing of Andrew W. Smith Jr., a 29-year-old man from Fayette, to prison after he pleaded guilty to three sex charges.
According to records from the Williams County Clerk of Courts, Smith admitted guilt to two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, both classified as third-degree felonies, and one count of pandering obscenity involving a minor, a fourth-degree felony.
The court sentenced Smith to 30 months in prison for each third-degree felony and 11 months for the fourth-degree felony, with the sentences to be served consecutively, resulting in a total sentence of 71 months.
Smith has been classified as a Tier II sex offender, and the court costs were waived.
The charges stem from Smith’s engagement in sexual conduct with a 15-year-old on November 12, where he was more than 10 years older than the minor. Additionally, between November 5 and 16, Smith knowingly obtained, possessed, or controlled obscene material involving a minor or impaired person.

Two charges related to the illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material were dismissed as part of the case.
