Tyler Keefer, son of Brian and Danni Keefer of Fayette, is participating in a cross-cultural experience in Chicago, May 7-28.
He and other Bluffton University students will explore the diversity of the “city of neighborhoods” by living in apartments, sharing cooking and cleaning responsibilities and learning to use public transportation. Each student will volunteer part time at an organization pertaining to his or her major. In addition to attending lectures about issues such as public housing, affirmative action and education, students will survey Chicago’s culture through live performances.
Keefer is a junior at Bluffton, where he is double majoring in sport management and strength and conditioning. He is a 2011 graduate of Fayette High School.
This experience will fulfill Bluffton’s undergraduate cross-cultural requirement that must be completed before graduation. Students can either complete a cross-cultural experience or take six credit hours in one foreign language.
