(April 6, 2015) – FAYETTE: Unpredictable Spring weather produced opportune conditions as the visiting Hilltop Cadets battled the home-team Fayette Eagles in an exciting season opener on Monday.

In the first inning of play both the Cadets and Eagles drove in one run apiece. Hilltop scored again in the top of the 2nd, resulting in a 2-1 lead going into the 3rd as Fayette’s offense couldn’t retaliate. Senior Koby Biddix of the Eagles held the Cadets back in the 3rd inning while Fayette’s offense drove in another run to tie the score at 2 going into the 4th.

Despite Biddix continuing to pitch admirably, Hilltop amassed two more runs in the 4th inning to surge ahead 4-2. Hilltop’s starting pitcher Jalen Towers gave up one more run in the bottom of the 5th before Ryan Brooker would take the mound for the save. Towers would throw 105 pitches and tally 8 strikeouts with only 4 hits.

Biddix, whom would pitch the remainder of the game for the Eagles, gave up one final run to Hilltop in the 6th. He would give up 11 hits and tally 5 strikeouts in his 7-inning debut.
