Fayette School Board Approves Mini-Eagles Volunteer Coaches

December 16, 2020Updated:December 31, 2020No Comments4 Mins Read

The regular meeting of the Fayette Local School District was held on December 14, 2020 at 7 p.m. Some of the members were present in person and some via Zoom. Also present were Superintendent Angela Belcher, Treasurer Kelly Bentley, HS Principal Jon Molter, Elementary Principal Allie Reucher and Tech Coordinator Rebecca Short.

In her report to the board, Superintendent Belcher explained that every week she has to report any positive COVID cases to the Fulton County Health Department and was excited to report that the last week was zero to report. The school received seven UV Sanitizing units, purchased with the CARES grant, to be used in offices and classrooms to disinfect areas. Treasurer Bentley spoke briefly on the use of the Circle K Fleet card.

Mr. Molter shared that after the Thanksgiving break the students came back to some slight changes in their classrooms and for lunchtime. He believes that these adjustments will help keep the contact tracing minimal to zero, and help them with the desire to keep the students in the school for academic learning and cut down on the need for quarantine.

Mrs. Reucher reported 57 preschool students enrolled, even during the COVID situation. Dr. Dunford will be finalizing the Elementary Christmas Concert and sending out the information on the FB page.

Both principals reported that the Parent Teacher Conferences were well attended even though they were done by phone or Zoom. They feel it might be a new trend in the future as it made it easier for parents to attend.

On December 1, the school held a practice day for virtual learning for the students. Both principals were pleased with the results from both the staff and the students.

“We are ready if the need arises to go to remote learning, but our ultimate goal is to stay on campus as long as possible to deliver the best academic learning for our students,” was said. Mrs. Short reported receiving some replacement Chromebooks for students from the CARES grant.

In regular business, the board voted to approve:
