The Fayette Local Schools has two great things happening here in the next 7 months. They will be adding 2850 square feet shop addition to their Agricultural Education program and constructing ball diamonds, track and field facilities and little league fields to the property.

Through these two additions our students will have the opportunities to develop new skills as well as train on state of the art facilities for our spring and fall sports. The total cost of the projects is 2.2 million. The combination of projects will be funded through bonds voted upon by the taxpayers and various local funds. Completion date for both projects will be July 20th, 2017.

The Fayette Agricultural Education program was restarted during the 2006-2007 school year with just 27 students. Since then the enrollment numbers for the program have reached nearly sixty percent of the high school population as well as all seventh and eighth grade students.

Through the program students are taught day to day tool usage, welding, small engines, woodworking, animal and plant science, public speaking and parliamentary procedure. Students are also required to keep records on their Supervised Agricultural Experience. Through these projects Ag/ FFA members have invested nearly $172,000 back into our community.

“The growth of this space will allow our growth in student’s numbers to safely and effectively learn the skills that are being demanded by today’s workforce. This addition will give our students new opportunities such as aquaponics, CNC programming and other various technologies that are being used in the industry today,” said Pamela Schultz 11 year Fayette FFA Advisor.

The Fayette Athletic complex will begin construction in March and will include a state of the art athletic complex which includes: 8 lane polyurethane track along with field events, varsity baseball and softball fields, 3 youth fields, and additional parking lot. The athletic complex will provide facilities for the students and the community to use throughout the year and will provide a facility worthy of the Fayette community.

Athletic Director Abby Short says, “The Fayette Athletic Department is very excited for the new sports complex and the opportunities that it brings. The new complex will allow us to encompass numerous athletic events for all ages. This facility will also allow the school and the athletic department to be involved with the community and surrounding schools on a whole new level.”

“These projects are a compilation of years of hard work by past administration, community members and the board of education. The vision for these projects aligns with the mission of the district and will provide facilities that will help to educate our youth year round whether in the classroom or through athletics. We are excited to see these projects completed and to promote the Fayette Local School as a district of choice for families inside and outside of our community,” said Erik Belcher, Superintendent.

Please join the Fayette Local School for a Ground Breaking Ceremony for both projects on February 28th, 2017 beginning at 9am. The ceremony will begin with the AG on the South end of the building and conclude with the Athletic complex on the East side of the building.
