The Fayette Senior Center recently hosted a free Hands-Only CPR class presented by Ray Sudheimer of the American Red Cross.
Held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, it was open to Fulton County residents aged 60 and older. The class was held inside the Family Life Center and focused on equipping attendees with lifesaving skills.
Sudheimer’s presentation involved two key steps: first, checking the scene and calling for help, then providing continuous chest compression until emergency personnel arrive.
Participants learned how to correctly place their hands in the center of the chest and to maintain a rhythm of 100 to 120 compressions per minute.
The session also covered Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use and when to safely stop compressions.
Seniors were encouraged to ask questions, practice on their own, and review the proper techniques necessary for children and adults.
The event was part of the Senior Center’s ongoing efforts to provide safety education and community support.
