The Fayette Village Council held their meeting on Wednesday, November 24th at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order followed by a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. The council first moved to approve the agenda with amendments to include legislative items a and b.

The minutes for the previous council meeting on November 11th were then approved as well as the minutes from the Public Works committee meeting and Finance committee meeting that took place on November 17th. With no visitors needing to address council, the administrators report was given.

Updates for long term projects were expressed. The sanitary sewer survey is complete. The onsite inspection went well, and it was found out that there are companies that help with back flow programs.

The base fee for one of the companies is $495. The VFO’s report followed next. It was stated that the public works and finance committee reviewed Ordinance 2021-12 and decided to change the sewer rate increase from 2.5% to 5% due to foresight of costly upcoming projects. It was also discussed to increase the pay for police officers by 10% and all other employees by 6%.

With the resignation of Nicole Ferguson as a full-time officer, there is a need to place another officer in the position of Community Policing Officer, which is her previous position.

A motion was then made to pay the bills in the amount of $46,483.24 which was passed. Council then moved to discuss ordinances and resolutions with the following being approved.

A First Reading for Resolution 2021-05 regarding the amending of the community reinvestment area resolutions. A First Reading of Ordinance 2021-14 regarding the setting of salaries and wages for village employees for 2022.

A First Reading for Ordinance 2021-15 regarding the establishment of temporary appropriations for 2022. A Second Reading for Ordinance 2021-12 to establish revised water and sewer rates.

A Second Reading of Ordinance 2021-13 regarding the repealing of existing section 303.08 of the codified ordinances and enacting codified ordinance section 303.08 regarding impound, storage, and redemption of impounded vehicles.

Council then moved to discuss matters of legislation. A motion was made and approved to hire Christian Renner as a full-time police officer at a rate of $15.50 an hour effective November 29th, 2021.

Next, a motion was made and approved to allow Karin Sauerlender to carry over up to an additional 3 days (24 hours) of vacation time to be used in 2022. Council then moved to adjourn for the evening.
