The Fayette Village held their meeting Wednesday, February 9th. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. followed by a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Council first moved to approve the minutes from the January 26th meeting before hearing a brief report from the mayor.

Mayor Borer stated that another water main break took place in the village on Saturday and that this break lasted for a good amount of time.

The Administrator’s report was then given with it being said that a few projects are having the finishing touches put on them.

These projects include the zoning code project, the splash pad project and a few others.

A survey done at the school was then discussed. The survey was given to students in grades 7 through 12, with 90 students participating overall.

Some questions included in the survey involved asking them how they feel about the community and if they think they may return and or stay after graduation.

Most answers show that students took the survey seriously, with the answers also being on the positive side.

Members of council and the mayor were given a copy of the survey with answers to see how the youth felt about the community.

For the VFW report, it was stated that a few additions were made to the bill list due to needing to get them paid. There is also going to be an audit for the Federal Grant given to Fayette regarding the new police computers.

It was explained that this is routine and normally takes place. Council then moved to approve the payment of the bills in the amount of $65,974.16.

Legislative issues were discussed next with council voting to approve the Second Reading of Resolution 2022-02. The resolution is to express the intent of council to conduct an internet auction for the sale of unneeded, obsolete or unfit personal property owned by the village.

Discussion then took place regarding the date of the next meeting. It was decided to move the next meeting to February 24th instead of the 23rd.

Suzette Boesger then stated that she wanted to thank the public works employees and everyone else that helped during the recent issues with water main breaks.

The employees have been working hard and have spent long hours to make sure that the issues get fixed in a timely manner.

Every other member of council also gave their thanks to the public works employees with Village Administrator Genna Biddix also speaking as to the conditions the employees worked in.

With no other issues to attend to, council moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:21 p.m.
