February 13th Basketball Roundup

Wauseon 55 Edgerton 30

Wauseon took control early by taking a 22-2 lead after one quarter on their way to a season ending win at Edgerton. Marisa Seiler paced the Lady Indians with a game-high 21 points, Autumn Pelok had 11, and Haley Meyer added 10. Noelle Ritter, Addie Cape, and Holly Stark had five points apiece for Edgerton (1-20).

Wauseon starts tournament play at home on February 18th against Archbold while Edgerton will open at Lincolnview on February 17th.

Hilltop 49 Fayette 19

Nine different Lady Cadets scored led by 14 points from Leanna Baker as Hilltop closed out the regular season with a win over. Fayette. Amber Ganoa had 10 points for Fayette (2-13, 1-10).

Hilltop (13-6, 10-2 in BBC) will host North Central on February 17th in a Division IV sectional semifinal and Fayette will travel to Stryker also on February 17th to start tournament action.

Bryan 43 Liberty Center 34

After sharing the NWOAL title last year, the Lady Bears clinched an outright league title with a 43-34 win over Liberty Center. McKendry Semer made five shots from the field and added four free throws for a team-high 14 points for Bryan.

Tournament play starts for Bryan (17-3, 6-0 in NWOAL) on February 20th when they host either St. Mary’s or Celina in a Division II sectional final.

North Central 72 Montpelier 68 (OT)

Zack Hayes poured in 30 points for North Central (5-14, 4-5 in BBC) who outlasted Montpelier 72-68 in overtime. Ben Pettit added 24 points for the Eagles, including hitting five of the team’s nine three pointers on the afternoon.

Montpelier (9-8, 6-5) was led by 21 points from Tylor Yahraus, Thomas Jay had 17, Garrett Walz tallied 14, and Blake Altaffer added 10.

Wauseon 54 Pettisville 29

Titan Tire

Wauseon shot 50% from the field, including 7/12 from deep, as they rolled to a 54-29 win on Senior Night. Jonas Tester had a game-high 20 points for Wauseon (17-3) and Connar Penrod added 11. Pettisville (13-6) was by Max Leppelmeier who drained five three’s and finished with 17 points.

Archbold 46 Napoleon 45

Trailing 45-43, Archbold’s Alex Roth was able to tap an offensive rebound to his brother Austin at the top of the key and he buried a triple in the final seconds to lift Archbold to a 46-45 win. The Bluestreaks led 23-10 after one quarter but Napoleon (10-9) gradually worked their way back and took a 45-43 late in the fourth quarter.

DJ Newman had six field goals and six free throws to total 18 points for Archbold (17-4), Alex Roth had 10, and Austin Roth finished with nine.
