Frances Hartzell (1947-2018)

Frances E. Hartzell, age 71, of Wauseon, unexpectedly passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 2, 2018 at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon.  Fran was born in Union City, Indiana on June 21, 1947 to the late Charles Albert Welch Jr. and Wanda (Coblentz) Welch.

She graduated from Mississinawa Valley High School before attending cosmetology school to receive her beautician’s license.  On September 28, 1968 she married her high school sweet heart, Elden Hartzell and he survives.  Together they were blessed with three children, Charles Hartzell, Auneta (Daniel) Herr and Victor (Cassandra) Hartzell.

Fran was an owner and operator of the antique store in Delta and will always be remembered as an avid antique consultant.  She and her husband traveled the area purchasing antiques and enjoying the friendship made along the way.  Fran also enjoyed baking, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

In addition to her husband of 50 years, Elden Hartzell; children, Charles, Auneta and Victor; she is survived by grandchildren, Amanda Hartzell, Andrew Ewing and Ashley Hartzell; great grandchildren, Caiden, Maci and Trystan; twin brother, Fredrick (Sandy) Welch; sister, Marcia Schiffler; two step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Janice Welch.


Friends will be received from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta; where a service honoring Fran’s life will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday.  Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery near Delta.  Rev. Kenneth Ladd will be officiating.
