Worship in the Street will return to Delta for its fifth year Saturday, Sept. 19, bringing a full afternoon of free food, entertainment and activities to the Delta Park.
The event will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at the park, located at 511 Taylor St. Organizer Palmyra Rodriguez-Mansour said everything offered during the event, including food and drinks, will be free.
Activities will be divided into areas for different age groups. Teen Territory will give older children a place to relax, play games and make T-shirts, while the Kids Zone will feature rides, inflatables, photo booths and faith painting.
Children will also have the opportunity to hear gospel stories inside a separate gospel tent.
Rodriguez-Mansour said Revive Ohio will be on site along with a prayer tent and a baptismal. Live entertainment will continue throughout the afternoon, with three bands scheduled to perform. A guest speaker will also share his testimony during the event.
Rodriguez-Mansour said Worship in the Street has typically attracted about 500 people coming and going throughout the day. The event was previously held near the football field on Fernwood Street before moving to the Delta Park.
Although the idea first came to Rodriguez-Mansour about a decade ago, she said it became a reality five years ago.
The event began with “no money at all,” but received the support needed to make the event possible. “The Lord has provided everything,” Rodriguez-Mansour said. “We really feel that this is something that he wants for the community.”
Rodriguez-Mansour said organizers want families to feel comfortable bringing their children and spending the afternoon together. “It’s just a time for families to come together,” she said. “We’re really just stressing a family fun day.”
