By: Brianna Balogh THE VILLAGE REPORTER publisher@thevillagereporter.com Appetizing aromas filled the air in downtown Edgerton as residents were not only able to get their hands on some delicious BBQ but also free tree seedlings. The tree commission provided the seedlings in celebration of Arbor Day and Earth Day. Approximately 150 varieties were available including: Norway Spruce, White Pine, Black Maple, Oak, and White Flowering Dogwood. Residents were welcome to select their desired seedlings from the labeled containers while also grabbing some grub from Fat Pig Smokehouse, one of many food trucks who participate in Food Truck Mondays all spring and summer long. The provided seedlings demonstrate Edgerton’s mission to continue its distinction as a “Tree City USA.” Started in 1976, the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program helps communities demonstrate and promote their commitment to a greener place to call home. Residents are encouraged to join in and celebrate Arbor and Earth Day by planting trees.
