Fulton County Senior Center March Highlights & Upcoming Events

With the season of spring around the corner, the Fulton County Senior Center invites you to join them for special events. Fulton County seniors are invited to the Wauseon site on Friday, March 25 at 8:30 a.m. for the Good Friday Breakfasts. Enjoy a menu of egg/bacon/cheese casserole, sausage links, fruit, doughnuts, and beverages. Suggested donation is $2.00 for Fulton County seniors age 60 and over, and $3.50 for all others. The Alzheimer’s Association will provide three educational programs presented by Marilyn Ward of the Alzheimer’s Association. Programs begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Wauseon site. On Wednesday, March 9, learn more about the basics of Alzheimer’s disease. The title for Wednesday, March 16 is “My Family Member has Alzheimer’s: Now what?” The third, “Healthy Lifestyle for a Healthy Brain,” will be held Wednesday, March 23.

Looking ahead, painting classes will be held in April by artist Nora Sallows. She will provide acrylic painting classes at the Wauseon site on Friday, April 8, 15, 22, and 29. The series of four classes will take place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Nora provides the paint, canvas, easels, brushes and expertise for only $75 for the series, due the first class. When signing up, you must commit to all four classes. Call Beth at 419-337-9299 to register.

On Thursday, April 21, Valerie Edwards, Information and Referral Specialist, will take appointments from 10-12 at the Swanton Library. Get help understanding insurance bills, Medicare, completing applications, and more. On Tuesday, April 26, Val will be at the Evergreen Library in Metamora from 10-12. On Thursday, April 28, Val will be at the Wyse Commons Library on the Fairlawn Campus from 10-12. Val’s services are offered at no cost to seniors in partnership with Wyse Commons and the local libraries. Please call 419-337-9299 to make an appointment with Val.


The Fulton County Senior center has a day trip planned to Shipshewana on Tuesday, May 31. They plan to browse the famous flea market, dine at the Blue Gate restaurant, and shop at the Guggisberg Cheese Factory. The trip requires a lot of walking including some walking on unpaved roads. Suggested transportation donation is $8.00 via charter bus. Plan to meet at the Wauseon Senior Center site at 7:45 a.m. Travelers who, for any reason, are not able to travel without assistance must be accompanied by a companion who will be attentive to caring for their needs.

The Wauseon site meets Mondays-Fridays and offers daily programs and meals. The Delta site meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays while the Swanton site meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The Archbold site meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays while the Fayette site meets Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each site offers special activities, shopping days, and meals.
