Reminders For A Successful Transportation Program
•Call the Coordinator of Volunteers as soon as you have an appointment date. Our service is on a first come, first served basis. If your appointment requires extended time, please inform the Coordinator when scheduling your transportation.
•Be ready to leave when the driver arrives at your home.
•Unscheduled stops need to be minimal. Please discuss your needs with your driver prior to your transportation. Some days, time is very restricted, making last minute stops impossible.
Sorry, no shopping trips.
•Please call if your appointment has been changed or cancelled. Please do not call your driver at home. All communication should be through the Senior Center.
•Donations are gladly accepted to help cover the expense of the program and can be given to your driver or mailed to the Fulton Co. Senior Center, 240 Clinton St., Wauseon, OH 43567.
•Seatbelts need to be worn at all times.
•Our drivers are volunteers – not care givers. If you need extra assistance, please bring a family member or friend to assist you.
•The Fulton County Senior Center reserves the right to stop transportation privileges for anyone who abuses the service or violates our policies.

How To Keep Your Hearing Sharp
You are invited to a Learning Seminar about hearing loss titled, “Keeping your Hearing Sharp.” This
learning seminar will be held at the Wauseon Senior Center on Monday, May 16th at 1:00 pm. The presenter will be David Lisko, Doctor of Audiology, formerly of Cleveland Clinic, currently practicing audiology with Oticon Hearing Technologies. Dr. Lisko has a clear understanding in the role of causes and effects hearing loss plays in living a healthier, richer and fuller life. It’s important to take an empowered approach to health during every stage of your life. Let it begin with your hearing health. Enjoy dessert served at 1:00 pm provided by The Hearing Center. Please note: This is a learning seminar and not a sales presentation. You are welcome to join us for lunch. Please make your lunch reservations by May 10.

Visit Your Local Senior Center
Here is yet another reason to join activities at your local Fulton County Senior Center. “A study from the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center in Chicago states that those who are highly sociable had a 70% lower rate of cognitive decline than those who were less socially active.” In other words, including activity and conversations with other people in our everyday lives is good for our brains. Relationships are a low-cost investment in our health that can pay big dividends. Source: NaturalSociety.com

Valuable Volunteer
For April, our spotlight shines on Bob Lehman of Delta for his enthusiastic service and commitment to our volunteer program. In 2015, Bob started driving seniors to medical appointments. “I wish I had started 18 years sooner!” Bob said. “Our seniors of Fulton County work very hard their entire lives to make this a great place to live. I volunteer as a medical transportation driver to show my appreciation to these seniors and to give back to them. By volunteering and taking my job seriously, I am letting them know we really care.” Bob encourages other retirees to consider volunteering. “If you can spare a little free time, get ahold of the Senior Center staff” and find out how to volunteer. “The satisfaction and feeling you get from helping is kind of indescribable,” Bob said.
Thank you, Bob!
