Authorities say a man who sparked a police chase in Delta last week is now back behind bars.
Deputies report that Jesse Brown, who had multiple parole warrants, was spotted Thursday evening when an attempt was made to pull him over near the intersection of U.S. 20A and County Road 5-2.
Rather than stop, Brown sped away. The pursuit ended when he ditched his vehicle and disappeared into a wooded area along County Road 1-2.
For hours, officers from several agencies scoured the countryside. K-9 handlers and drones assisted deputies and troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol as they tracked possible sightings south of Swanton near County Roads 1 and 2, and in the vicinity of Roads D and EF. Despite the effort, Brown managed to evade capture that night.
The sheriff’s office said that by the next day, they no longer believed he was hiding in that search zone, though the public was asked to remain cautious.
The case then turned when Brown was located and arrested on Tuesday. He was booked on a third-degree felony charge of failing to comply with law enforcement, a charge connected directly to last Thursday’s incident.
Officials also confirmed he will face consequences for his outstanding parole warrants, and additional counts may be added as the investigation continues.
