Game Summaries: Varsity Baseball – Tue., April 11th, 2017

North Central 9, Pettisville 7
The Blackbirds held a 3-2 win after three innings of play. North Central’s bats put together five runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth for the BBC win. David Pinc led North Central at the plate finishing with a double and two RBI. Josh Bailey knocked contributed with two RBI. Steven Williams, Hayden Haas and Levi Williams each singled and Steven Williams had one RBI. Pinc pitched six innings allowing seven runs on seven hits while striking out seven. Nate Hartzler and Dillon King shared pitching duties for Pettisville as Hartzler went 3.2 innings allowing seven ruins on five hits while striking out two and King went 3.1 innings giving up two runs on one hit while striking out four. Offensively for Pettisville, Hartzler and King led the charge as Hartzler doubled, singled and collected two RBI. King had two singles and two RBI. Austin Horning finished with two singles, Justin Rupp hit a single and John Rufenacht added an RBI.

Stryker 4, Montpelier 1
Shock and Benson led the Panthers to their fourth win of the season over the Locos in a BBC match up. Shock earned the complete game win allowing one run on four hits while striking out four. Benson led the Stryker offense with two singles and a double producing one RBI. Shock helped his own cause with a home run. Colin Rockey also pitched the complete game for Montpelier. Rockey allowed three runs on six hits while striking out three.

Delta 6, Woodmore 4
After falling behind 4-1 after four innings, the Panthers produced five sixth inning runs to prevail. Cole Mattin got his first win of the season on the mound. Jason Beverly finished two for three at the plate with a RBI.

Edon 4, Hilltop 3
The Bombers used one run in the top of the seventh to come away with the BBC victory. Carson Brandt led Edon with three hits, one run and two RBi. Levi Brandt added another RBI in the win. Connecting for RBI for Hilltop included Quinn Smith, Christian McKinney and A. Denton. Braden Miller was the winning pitcher with a complete game victory. Miller gave up three runs on eight hits and struck out seven. Smith and T. Figy took the mound for the Cadets. Smith pitched four innings allowing two runs on three hits while striking out five. Figy threw for three innings, allowing two runs on five hits with one strikeout.

Wauseon 11 Otsego 4
Wauseon wasted little time getting on the scoreboard with six runs in the first inning to put this one away early. They added two more in the second and one run in the third, fifth, and sixth innings to keep a comfortable lead. The Indians used the long ball to do some of their damage with CJ Moser and Jacob Rabbe going deep. Moser finished with two hits and three RBI’s on the day while Marcel Barajas added two hits and drove in two runs. Brooks Gype, Justus Chapa, and Everett Bueter combined on the mound to give the Indians a solid pitching performance.


Archbold 13 Rossford 11 F/8 innings
It was a slugfest with the Bulldogs and Blue Streaks combining for 24 runs and 27 hits in this one. Archbold found themselves with a 11-9 going to the home half of the seventh inning. Rossford was able to score two runs and this game was going to extra innings tied at 11. In the eighth inning Archbold scored twice to retake the lead by the score of 13-11. The Streaks were able to stop Rossford in the eighth to come away with the win. There were plenty of offensive heroes for Archbold, namely Gabe Peterson, who went 4-5 with a double, triple, and three RBI’s. Bryce Williams, Kade Kern, and Ian Radabaugh also each went 3-5 for the Streaks, with Williams and Kern also adding three RBI’s apiece.
