DEFIANCE (December 28, 2025) – Delta and Wauseon finished among the top ten teams in the Tinora Girls Wrestling Invitational held Sunday, December 28 at Tinora High School.
The Lady Panthers placed fifth with 83.5 points and the Lady Indians were seventh with 78.5 points.
Tinora won the team title with 169.5 points followed by Gibsonburg (123.5), Elmwood (94.5), Clyde (89), Delta, Middletown (83), Wauseon, Antwerp (66), Defiance (55), Fairview (49) and Napoleon (49) rounding out the top ten finishers. Bryan was 12th with 46 points and Edgerton was 18th with 16 points.
Wauseon’s Amya Hallet was the area’s only individual champion as the sophomore claimed the 145-pound division with an 18-4 major decision over Avah Spencer of Tinora in the championship match.
Two other Wauseon grapplers, Anaya Jacobs and Kaelynn Hartsock both finished as runner-up.
Jacobs was pinned by Lilly Zwiefel of Gibsonburg in 46 seconds in the 100-pound final. Hartsock dropped a 10-2 major decision to Isabela Jordan of Defiance in the 125-pound title bout.
Three area wrestlers Alexa Goins of Bryan, Lily Hunt and Rylie Taylor of Delta all finished third in their respective weight classes.
Goins won via a medical forfeit over Makenzie Woods of Ayersville at 100 pounds. Hunt posted a 10-2 major decision over Aleta Sorrell of Antwerp at 130 pounds. Taylor scored a fall over Scout Temple of Tinora in 2:51 at 135 pounds.
Placing fourth were Lauren Lopez of Delta (110), Payton Geiner of Bryan (125), Gretchen Kennedy of Bryan (155), and Joselyn Rodriguez of Wauseon (190). Faith Younke of Delta (105) placed fifth.
Finishing sixth were Taylor Fulk of Bryan (130), Mackenzie Clapp of Delta (120), Jayden Westmeyer of Delta (125), Karalynn Longnecker of Delta (155), Chloe Hazelton of Edgerton (115), Layla Gale of Edgerton (125), and Baylee Poorman of Wauseon (170).
