Glema Elvira TreerGlema Elvira Treer, 95, left this earth on Friday, December 18 at Hope Hospice in Lehigh Acres, Florida.   She was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to Howard J. Sayles and Della Pearl (Teller) Sayles. She married Robert E. Treer on June 24, 1939. She had 2 brothers Clare and Kenneth (Kenneth died at birth) and 2 sisters Vera and Sonna, all of whom preceded her in death.

Glema had 8 children who kept her busy for many years.  She was involved in her community and in her church, serving for various agencies such as the Red Cross and the Lehigh Acres Social Services Agency. She was also employed as a housekeeper for the Downingtown Motor Inn, and she worked for Pepperidge Farm on the cookie line for 15 years.

After her retirement from Pepperidge Farm in 1983, Glema and Bob moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida where they continued to serve the church and the community.  Glema’s husband Bob died in 2005. As Glema’s health declined, Seniors Helping Seniors began to offer services to enable her to stay at home for most of her remaining years.  The family is grateful to Seniors Helping Seniors and Dr. Tucker for the care provided.  They are also grateful to Gulf Coast Hospital staff and the Hope Hospice staff for their compassionate care given in her final days.

In addition to her siblings, Glema is preceded in death by her husband Robert, and her sons Keith, Kenneth, and Jim. She is survived by her sons John (Sharron) Treer, Crossville, Tennessee; Randy (Susan) Treer, Westerville, Ohio and her daughters Karen Treer, Toledo, Ohio; Connie Hale, Sherwood, Arkansas; and Cathy (Chip) Pease, Dover, NH, as well as several grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made in Glema’s memory to CHP Hospice or to The Montpelier Senior Center “Activity Fund”.  Online condolences may be left at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com
