EDGERTON (October 10, 2025) – What was supposed to be a highly anticipated Green Meadows Conference football game between Fairview and Edgerton resulted in a one-sided triumph for the Apaches in a 54-19 victory at Stauffer Field.
In a battle between a pair of GMC squads who most likely will be playing in Week 11 when the state football playoffs begin three weeks from now, Fairview flexed its own offensive muscles behind the golden arm of senior quarterback William Zeedyk.
The 5-10, 160-pound senior, who already this season has thrown for 2,129 yards and 22 touchdowns, created a decisive mismatch against the Bulldogs’ defense, which had trouble defending him all night long.
Zeedyk led the Apaches on an 11-play, 65-yard drive in less than four minutes in the opening quarter, completing 5 of 6 passes for 45 yards, culminating with a Drayden Grinnell-Dennis three-yard scoring run at the 8:35 mark.
Edgerton recovered from Fairview’s initial score with an impressive seven-play, 76-yard scoring drive, with Bulldogs quarterback Maddox Baker scoring on a 33-yard quarterback keeper.
The Bulldogs’ scoring drive was aided by a 15-yard pass interference penalty on the Apaches, and Baker connected with Karter Gibson for a 23-yard pass completion to the Fairview 33-yard line.
Baker then scored on the next play with 6:35 remaining as Edgerton had closed the gap to 7-6. From there, Fairview would score on its next four offensive possessions.
Following the Bulldogs’ touchdown, the Apaches went just three plays and 70 yards, resulting in a 15-yard touchdown run by Zeedyk.
Zeedyk, who completed 17 of 25 passes for 345 yards in the first half, connected with Logan Olinger on a 63-yard scoring strike followed by a 41-yard TD pass to Gavin Garza in the first quarter.
Olinger scored his second touchdown of the game from seven yards out. Later in the second quarter, he would intercept an Edgerton pass at the Bulldogs’ 38-yard line, setting up a 12-yard TD run by Zeedyk, capping off a two-play, 38-yard drive.
With less than a minute in the first half, Edgerton attempted a pass on fourth and 18 at its own 17-yard line, but the pass was incomplete, and Fairview got excellent field position at the Bulldogs’ 17.
On the next play, Zeedyk connected with Shady Fritch from 17 yards out, and the Apaches grabbed a decisive 47-6 halftime lead with the running clock taking over in the second half.
Olinger scored his third touchdown of the game on a one-yard run in the third quarter.
The Bulldogs got their second touchdown of the game when freshman quarterback Mason Elden found Gibson on a three-yard scoring pass, and Tucker Curl added a one-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter.
Zeedyk completed 18 of 27 passes for 350 yards and three touchdowns, all of them going to three different wide receivers.
Olinger hauled in four passes for 111 yards and a touchdown. Jonathon Hoffman had two catches for 61 yards. Grinnell-Dennis had three catches for 57 yards. Garcia had three catches for 50 yards, and Gavin Meade had three catches for 50 yards.
Baker completed 10 of 26 passes for 104 yards for the Bulldogs, despite facing lots of defensive pressure from the Apaches. Mason Elden was 9 of 11 for 114 yards and a touchdown, all in the second half.
Kellen Sanchez hauled in eight passes for 115 yards to lead Edgerton, while Parker Elden had three catches for 45 yards.
Fairview outgained Edgerton in total offense, 442-283. The Apaches had 355 yards passing and 87 yards rushing. The Bulldogs had 218 yards passing and 65 yards on the ground.
Both teams return to GMC action on Friday. Fairview (7-1, 5-1 GMC) visits Wayne Trace while Edgerton (5-3, 2-3 GMC) invades Hicksville.
