Hicksville Police Make Arrest After Man Assaulted With Aluminum Bat

On October 10, 2022 at approximately 7:08 pm, the Defiance County 911 Communications Center received a 911 call reporting an assault involving a male being struck in the head and back with a bat

Officers responded to the area of Beech and S. Bryan Street in the Village of Hicksville.

They found the male victim bleeding with a head injury and several other injuries to his body.

The victim was transported to local hospital by Hicksville EMS for his injuries. The condition of the victim is unknown at the time of this news release.


Jason Oney, age 46, Hicksville, Ohio was arrested at his residence for Felonious Assault, a Felony of 2nd degree. An aluminum bat was recovered that was used in the assault.

Oney was taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio. Oney will appear in Defiance Municipal Court on October 11th.

The assault stems from a neighborhood dispute between both parties. The assault took place on Beech Street between S. Bryan and Main Street. The case remains under investigation.
