WEST UNITY: June 7 – Those expecting a pitchers dual between Hilltop and Ayersville left unfulfilled. Those hoping for offense were rewarded for their attendance. Holding an 8-7 lead going into the final frame, Ayersville added a pair of insurance runs to open a three run lead in the top of the seventh, with the Cadets down to their final three outs.

Remember that ‘pitchers dual’ thing? It came back to bite the Pilots in the home half of the seventh as Hilltop plated four runs to win at home, 11-10.

Collins got the start for Hilltop, but was chased in the fourth. Kristian Grapengeter worked into the fifth before he was pulled in favor of Quinn Smith who picked up the win in finishing.

Cole Haynes was 5 for 6 with 4 RBIs. Nic Schieber had 3 singles, a triple and an RBI, and Smith plated a pair with 3 singles. Tyler Suboski had a single and drove in 2, Grapengeter had an RBI single, and Ethan Dunson and Collins each had a single.
