WEST UNITY: June 7 – Ask any baseball person…an error gives the opponent an extra out. Extra outs mean extra opportunities, and extra opportunities, when capitalized upon, lead to runs…unearned runs, but runs none the less. Thanks to five Hilltop errors, Ayersville had plenty of those opportunities, and they took full advantage of them in a 15-5 ACME League whitewashing of their hosts on June 7.
Justin Ashenfelter got the start, and was tagged for 6 unearned runs before giving way to Nic Schieber, who was lit up for 5 runs. Zach Roehrs relieved Schieber, but he was roughed up for 4 runs before Isaac VanArsdalen came on to register the final out by the K.
Roehrs had a single and a double with 2 RBIs for Hilltop, with Schieber plating a pair with a single and a triple. Quinn Smith drove in a run with a single and a double, and Colin Sabins added a single and double.
