Hilltop Lady Cadets Double Up North Central In BBC Opener

WEST UNITY – The Hilltop Lady Cadets struck first and never looked back to claim the Buckeye Border Conference opener against arch-rival North Central 12-6 on April 8th.  In an error filled affair, the Lady Cadets were able to capitalize on seven Eagle miscues as eight of the Hilltop runs were unearned.

Leah Thompson picked up the complete game victor for the Lady Cadets giving up just three earned runs, eight hits, fanned two and issued one free past to first.

Madison Messner began the night on the slab for NC and in two innings was tagged for seven runs (two earned), two hits, and three bases on balls.  Bralyn Wyrick finished and was charged with five runs (three earned) and six hits.


Hilltop was paced at the plate by Hannah Bleikamp who collected three RBI with a homer and double, and LeAnn Joost who smacked a two run tater.  Shayla Coffman doubled and singled twice, while Taylor Collins had an RBI two bagger.  Kacie Hodson added a base hit for the Lady Cadets who improve to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the BBC.

Shaylee Oyer had a double and single for the Eagles, while Messner collected two base hits.  Wyrick, Reese Cogswell, Sabrina Pickford and McKayla Swank all singled for North Central who stands at 3-3 overall and 0-1 in league play.
