Hilltop School Board Sets Date For January Organizational Meeting

President Heather Jones called the December 14, 2020 meeting of the Millcreek West Unity Local Board of Education to order at 6 p.m. with all board members in attendance. Superintendent Jim Wyse gave a second opportunity for public input on the 21-22 school calendar and share the minutes from the Quarterly Business Advisory Council meeting that was held on September 8, 2020.

Principals Riley and Worline gave their reports. Mrs. Thompson gave a brief update on the status of the Fair School Funding Plan and provided a FAQ handout to the Board. The Board voted to approve:

•Minutes from the November 2020 Board of Education meeting and the Financial Statements and investments
•Annual membership with Ohio School Boards Association, Approximately $3500, School Management News $150
•Transfer of $50,000 from General Fund to Food Service and $20,000 from General Fund to Athletic.
•Appropriation modifications
•Graduate Study requests for Amanda Nofziger, Nathan Massie and Rebecca Diaz
•Acceptance with gratitude for donations from: Dorotha Davis of coats, hats and gloves; West Franklin Church of hats and scarves; and Bill Havelec of $300 to the food pantry
•Salary advance for Desiree Arts to the 150 Semester Hour Index retroactive to August 28, 2020

The Organization Meeting for the Board was set for January 11, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in the library, with Heather Jones approved as President Pro Tem.


The next regular meeting will be held that night immediately following the Organizational Meeting.
