The Holiday City Planning Commission discussed its proposed new zoning ordinance at its meeting on Thursday, September 4.

Village Administrator Blair Campbell said the planning commission reviewed several zoning ordinances that are currently being prepared for it.

Two of the zoning codes that were mainly discussed at the meeting included AG (agriculture), which pertains to farms and agricultural uses, and R-1 (housing with a septic tank).

In addition, the planning commission also brought up three other zoning areas, R-2 (single-family housing), CO-1 (Village Hall and village property), and CS-2 (hotels, car lots, restaurants, gas stations) for future discussion.

The planning commission also requested the services of Todd Burkholder, who is the zoning officer for three Williams County townships (Center, Pulaski, and Springfield).

Burkholder will serve as a consultant for the village during its process of developing a new zoning ordinance.

“He (Burkholder) is helping us out with it and volunteering his time and to get it into the right direction,” said Campbell.

“We’re going to invite him to a planning commission meeting, as we hope that he has to come once or twice to our meetings after we have all our questions in order. Plus, he’s been really good in helping us.”
