James W. Snow, age 85, of Wauseon, Ohio passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 in the Cleveland Clinic where he was a patient for two months and one day.  James was born November 23, 1932 in Henry County, Ohio to the late Donald and Pearl (Willemen) Snow.

He graduated from Chesterfield Dover in 1950.  10 years after graduating from high school he decided to go to college.  He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Math from Defiance College and a Master’s Degree from Bowling Green State University in High School Administration.  His first teaching job was at Oakwood, Ohio and then at Springfield, Ohio in Clark County and then retired at Wauseon High School.

He loved sports.  He was a true Chicago White Sox Fan.  He was a High School Boys and Girls Basketball Coach, Boys and Girls Cross-Country Coach and also Junior High Cross-Country Coach.  He also coached High School Baseball and also High School Track.  Jim was a member of Church of the Master United Methodist Church, Wauseon, Ohio.

Jim married Pauline Wells on January 11, 1953 and they celebrated 65 years together in January.


Surviving besides his wife are his son, Rick Snow, Wauseon, Ohio, daughter, Pam (Randy) Leininger, Pettisville, Ohio.  Sister, Mary Eichler, Morenci, Michigan.  Grandchildren,  Nick (Ruby) Leininger, Melissa (Brandon) Altman, Matt (Amanda) Leininger.  Great-grandchildren,  Emma, Caden and Opie Leininger.  Grayson, Keyin, Brynn and Mya Altman.  Kiptyn, Vivian, Crew and Lawson Leininger.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents.  Sons, Dennis James and Randy Allen Snow.  Grandson, Jacob Leininger.  Brother, Harold Snow, Sisters, Carol Snow, Dolores Gasche and Junnie Poe.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018 in Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon, Ohio.  Pastor Ben Sheaffer officiating.  Interment will follow in Wauseon Union Cemetery.  Funeral meal will follow the interment at Fulton County Sportsman’s Club, Wauseon, Ohio.   Friends may call for a time of visitation with the family 2:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home and also 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday prior to the funeral service in the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to:  Church of The Master United Methodist Church or the charity of donor’s preference.
