Janice Riegsecker (1942-2023)

Janice Louise Riegsecker, age 80, of Wauseon, passed away at The Toledo Hospital early Sunday morning, April 16, 2023.

She was born in Delta on June 23, 1942 to George Bishop and Alberta (Vondran) Bishop. Janice graduated from Wauseon High School in 1959 and on November 6, 1960, she married Paul Riegsecker who survives.

In addition to being a homemaker, loving wife, mom, grandma and great grandma; Janice served several years working for Figy Poultry, K-Mart Department Store in Wauseon and the Barn Restaurant in Archbold.

She was well known for her talent of quilting, knitting, sewing and crafts. For family wedding gifts, you could always expect a handmade Christmas tree skirt or quilt.


Janice was a past member of the Evangelical Mennonite Church in Wauseon and the Fulton County Farm Bureau. She was a voting pole worker and a 58 year member of the Ohio Homemakers.

Janice is survived by her husband of 62 years, Paul Riegsecker; son, Allen (Terra) Riegsecker of Wauseon; sister, Carol Spor of North Carolina; grandchildren, Kasey (Mark) Estel, Erica (Bubba) Cundick, Breeanna and Bryce Riegsecker; great grandchildren, Kogan Estel, Aleaha Estel, Parker Riegsecker, Easton Estel, Maddox Estel and Beau Cundick; sisters-in-law, Sara Louise Strauss, Sharon Riegsecker, Diane Galbraith and Jean Hayward; along with many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim and Bill Bishop and brothers-in-law, Chuck Riegsecker, Bill Strauss and Dale Hayward.


Friends will be received from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 21, 2023 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Winameg Cemetery in Delta. Pastor Donald Krieger will be officiating.
