Jean Miller (1946-2021)

Jean Ann Miller, 74, of Fayette, passed away on March 5, 2021. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 18, 1946, to Jack and Dorothy (McIntire) Bieber. She graduated from Northwood High School. She and her family moved to Fayette, Ohio, where she met Rollin.

Jean attended Bowling Green State University for a short time, and then returned to Fayette. She was baptized and became a member of the Mennonite church in 1966. Rollin and Jean were married at Lockport Mennonite Church on March 12, 1966. She and Rollin were blessed with 5 children.

Jean worked on the farm alongside her husband from marriage until retirement. She was a 20 year 4-H leader for the Franklin Blue Ribbons 4-H Club, worked for over 15 years at the 4-H Camp Palmer in Fayette as a cook and custodian.

She was an active member of the Lockport Mennonite Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, as well as serving on the food committee for over 20 years. She worked as a cook for MDS (Mennonite Disaster Service) projects in various states. She was a caregiver to all.


Jean enjoyed traveling with her family. She and her husband traveled to many states, as well as various countries. Her hobbies included flower and vegetable gardening, reading, as well as cooking and baking. Well known for her amazing cookies and pies, she shared them with everyone near and far.

Jean is survived by her husband of 55 years, Rollin, children Joanne Camarillo of Elkhart, IN, John (Sandy) of Hillsdale, MI, Nancy (Chris) Miles of Defiance, OH, Linda (Rich) Bragdon of Somersworth, NH, and Scott (Heather) of Rushville, IN, as well as 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her father, Jack Bieber of Kendallville, IN, her sister, Judy (Jerry) Hooser of Corunna, IN, and her brother, Bob (Betty) Bieber of Fayette, OH. She was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Bieber.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Short Funeral Home. Services will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at Lockport Mennonite Church (Stryker, Ohio) on Tuesday, March 9 at 4:00 p.m. for friends and family.


Jean continues to give as a tissue donor. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Jean’s honor to Mennonite Disaster Service at https://mds.mennonite.net/ .
