Joan E. Riches, age 93, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Thursday morning, July 11, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Ebeid Center in Sylvania.
She was born December 28, 1930 in Warren, Pennsylvania to Scott and Viola Sharman. Joan was a 1948 graduate of Stryker High School.
On January 14, 1951, she married the love of her life Bertram T. Riches, Jr.. Together they raised 4 wonderful children.
Joan worked in the cafeteria at Swanton High School for 32 years. She was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Swanton.
Joan thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by her family and was very proud of all their accomplishments.
Left to cherish Joan’s memory are her children, Marta (Timothy) Sheehan, Teri Davis, Scott (Gail) Riches and Amy (Chris) Vaccaro; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Diane) Sharman, brother-in-law, Lee (Karen) Riches; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her beloved husband, Bertram; Joan was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Scott Riches; son-in-law, Michael Davis; sisters, Dorothy and Ethel, brother Scott Sharman, Jr. , and sisters-in-law, Mary Anita and Norma Elton.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 N. Main St., where funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Bob Ball officiating. Interment will follow at Wauseon Union Cemetery.
