Joseph D. F. Shultz

Joseph D.F. ShultzJoseph D.F. Shultz, age 95, of Swanton, peacefully passed away at Swanton Health Care early Saturday morning October 31, 2015.   He was born in Pioneer, OH on June 1, 1920 to the late Ford Shultz and Alta Faye (Winkler) Shultz.  On November 30, 1942 in Bryan, OH; he married Mildred Hagelberger and she survives.

Joe served in the U.S Air Force and Air National Guard from which he made it his career and retired in 1980 after 37 years of service.   He was a member of the Delta United Methodist Church and Delta American Legion Post #373.  Joe was a 50 year member of the Masonic Fraternity with Browning Home #555 and Scottish Rite.

 Along with his wife of almost 73 years, Mildred, he is survived by his son, Jon-Alann Shultz of Swanton.

Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Charles Shultz.


Friends will be received from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta; with an American Legion Service being held at 7:30 PM followed by a Masonic Service.  A funeral service celebrating Joe’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at the Delta United Methodist Church, 101 Northwood Dr., Delta, Ohio.  Pastor Teresa Wenrick will be officiating.  Friends may join the family for fellowship and a meal at the Delta United Methodist Church immediately following the funeral service.  Interment will be held at 1:00 PM at Floral Grove Cemetery in West Unity with Military Honors provided by the Fulton County Honor Guard.

 In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Delta American Legion, 5939 St Hwy 109, Delta, Ohio 43515 or a charity of the donor’s choice in Joe’s memory.  Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.
