Karen Jean (Reese) Moore, 64, of Montpelier, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio after a long battle with cancer. She was born on December 27, 1953 in Montpelier to Robert Homer and Dorothy Jean (Faunce) Reese. Karen was a graduate of Montpelier High School and had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Montpelier since 1967.
She used to work at Robinair and Ne-Co Lanes both formerly located in Montpelier and also for the Montpelier Auto Auction. Karen was an avid bowler and was the past president of the MWBA. She was a member of the Montpelier Moose. Karen loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking rides out on the gator. She was a “tough bird” throughout her long fight against cancer and will be very dearly missed.
Karen is survived by her three children, Lindsey (Tim) Coopshaw of Stryker, Michelle (Justin) Turner of Charlotte, MI and Nick (Jill) Moore of Montpelier and their father, Steven B. Moore of Montpelier; six grandchildren, Jacob and Kady VanDeVordee, Jaiden and Malcolm Turner and Blake and Carlee Moore; one sister, Lynne (Tom) Carpenter of Montpelier; two brothers, Ric A. Reese and Chad (Laura) Reese both of Montpelier; best friend, Jerry Messner of Montpelier and his loving family; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 2-7 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 7:00 pm at the funeral home with Reverend David Tilly and Dr. Dan VanArsdalen to officiate.
