The Wauseon Exempted Village Schools Board of Education has named high school principal Keith Leatherman as the district’s next superintendent, with his new role set to begin August 1, 2026.
Leatherman will succeed current superintendent Troy Armstrong, who has led the district since 2019.
Armstrong’s retire-rehire agreement, approved by the board in July, will keep him in the position through the end of the 2025–26 school year, after which he plans to retire.
Leatherman has nearly three decades of experience with the district. He began his career at Wauseon High School as a math teacher, a role he held for 10 years, before being named assistant principal in 2008.
After five years in that position, he was promoted to high school principal in 2013, a role he continues to hold today.
