Kenneth Earl Cooley, 100, of Fayette, Ohio successfully completed his life’s work on earth and was promoted to glory on October 25, 2015. He was born on August 20, 1915 to Justice and Gladys (Tewsley) Cooley.
Ken graduated in 1933 from Gorham-Fayette High School. He was class president and excelled in basketball and track. On April 4, 1940, he married his high school sweetheart, Vera Marie Schaffner. During their 58 years of marriage, they raised three children, enjoyed traveling, and in later years, spent time with family and friends in Florida.
Ken was a lifetime farmer and a seed dealer for twenty five years. He served as executive vice president in charge of agricultural and commercial loans for Tiffin Valley National Bank, Fayette. He was involved in the Fayette Lions Club, the Fulton County Historical Society, and the Masonic Fraternity. A lifelong, active member of the Fayette United Methodist Church, Ken was a faithful Christian man, whose daily living and service to others provided a model for his family, friends and all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Glen Cooley.
He is survived by his step-sister, Jane Marshall, Allen, MI. His children are Curtis (Nancy) Cooley, Fayette, OH; Richard (Janet) Cooley, Bryan, OH; Kaylene (Drew) Ashbridge, Phoenix, AZ; and daughter-in-law Marzee Cooley, Bryan, OH. Grandchildren include Cristin (Mark) Hagans, Archbold, OH, Troy (Cyndi) Cooley, Montpelier, OH; Eron (Garry) Mosier, Napoleon, OH; Caryn (Jeff) Theobald, Archbold, OH; Bradley Cooley, Norwalk, OH; and Justin Ashbridge, Mesa, AZ. His great-grandchildren are Kelsey, Courtney, Amber, Elyse, Stephan, Connor, Gwyn, Lauren, Ethan, Trey, Carsyn, Elizabeth, Lydia, Ben, and Ishai; and great-great granddaughter Kinley. He is also survived by two step grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren, two step great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 27th from 2-6 pm at the Fairlawn Haven Chapel in Archbold, OH and on Wednesday, October 28th from 2-7 pm at the Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette, OH. A Masonic service will follow at 7 pm in the Eagle Funeral Home Barrett Chapel. The funeral service will take place at the Fayette United Methodist Church on Thursday, October 29th at 10:30 am followed by a graveside service at Pleasant View Union Cemetery, Fayette.
