L. George Brown (1945-2013)

GEORGEBROWN-WEBL. George Brown, 68 of Bryan and formerly of Stryker passed away early Tuesday morning in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 20, 1945 in Bryan, Ohio to Ira and Mable (Hart) Brown. He attended Montpelier Public Schools and went on to serve in the United States Army for a short time before receiving a medical Honorable discharge. George worked for several years at the Montpelier Auto Auction during which he met Carolyn Knapp. They married on October 28, 1967 in Stryker, Ohio, and she survives.

George attended the Alliance Church in Bryan, Ohio. He was a governor of the Bryan Moose for two terms, was also a member of the Bryan Fraternal Eagles #2233, and the Stryker American Legion Post #60. He worked for T&M Supply Lumber Company in Stryker for 12 years making deliveries. In 2008 he retired from truck driving at 3D Transportation in West Unity. He was a Volunteer for the Stryker Fire Department and rescue department for a few years. George loved to camp, fish and spend time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his dog Mandy. He was a very giving person helping many individuals over the years.

He is survived by his wife of almost 46 years, Carolyn; two daughters Janet (James) Moore of Bryan and Beth (Bob) Brickey of Bryan; two grandsons Brandon Taylor (Krystal Oehler) of Bryan and Austin Taylor (fiancé Kylie Stantz) of Montpelier; five great grandchildren Rayvin Oleher, Maluree Taylor and Vincent Taylor of Bryan and Cody Green, Jr., and Kinslie Taylor of Montpelier; two brothers Kenneth (Ruth Ann) Brown of Bryan and Robert Brown of Montpelier; three sisters Nancy Ramer of Swanton, Patricia (Benny) Beck of Montpelier and Sandra Carter of Pioneer; several nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents.
